The Bay of Fires is the name of a unique beach in Mount William National Park in northeastern Tasmania. The coast is deserted and picturesque, with secluded white sandy beaches nestled between dunes and granite rocks offering stunning views of wastelands, forests and coastal areas. Sometimes flocks of yellow-tailed mourning cockatoos sweep overhead.

Fishing is great here, with the waters of the Bay of Fires being one of the few places in Tasmania with Australian perch. Visitors can also go scuba diving or snorkeling. There are many important Aboriginal cultural sites located here, and the government has recommended that the park be returned to the indigenous population. The best way to explore the coast and the surrounding desert is with a guided walking tour.

Mount William National Park itself was created as a nature reserve, where many unique birds are found - eagles, wedge-tailed eagles and peregrine falcons, for which there is a lot of food here. Wallabies, wombats, echidnas, bush-tailed possums (brush-tailed possums) and Tasmanian devils can be seen in the park - it is also the only area in Tasmania where rare kangaroos can be found.
