This is Antwerpen-Centraal Railway Station (Belgium), which, according to the American magazine Newsweek, in 2009 was recognized as the fourth in the list of the most beautiful railway stations in the world. This is not surprising, because the inhabitants of Antwerp even call this attraction a Gothic "railway cathedral".

Located in Astrid Square, close to the "Diamond Quarter", Antwerpen-Centraal Railway Station itself boasts a diamond gallery with 30 jewelry boutiques. Of course, it also works for its main purpose. In connection with the opening of the Antwerpen-Mechelen Railway line, the first station building was built here in 1836. The structure was made of wood, like the next one - 20 years later. The modern stone station was built in 1899 for six years under the direction of the architect Louis Delasenseri.

The stately building of Antwerpen-Centraal was eclectic, with a 75-meter-high dome and eight Gothic towers (six of which were demolished in the mid-20th century). During the renovation in 2009, the towers were restored, as was the lion statue.

The 20th century was a sad time for such a luxurious building, it literally fell into decay. Since the 50s, gradual and catastrophic destruction began with several facts of the collapse of stone slabs and a landing stage. Therefore, in order to preserve and restore, the station building was declared an architectural monument.
