A bit of history
Many millions of years ago, in the place of these mountains, waves of the warm gentle sea splashed. Africa gradually drew closer to Europe, the sea became shallower, and then the water left it completely, but left behind traces of coral reefs, fjords, lagoons - an amazingly beautiful and diverse terrain. This is the Dolomites, a mountain range that UNESCO has included in the list of World Natural Heritage Sites.

The local peaks were first conquered by climbers in the 1860-1870s. During the First World War, there were battles here, and you can still see the remains of trenches and traces of explosions. This region has become a tourist and ski area relatively recently - a little less than half a century ago.
