The volcano, like the lake, is located on the border of the provinces of Sambales, Bataan and Pampanga. Its height today is 1486 m. The last time the volcano erupted was in 1993. A huge crater with a diameter of 2.5 km, formed by the eruption of 1991, is the central one. A rain-fed lake was formed in the crater. This is the deepest lake in the country, its depth is 800 meters. You can swim in the lake.

The water level in Lake Pinatubo was gradually rising, so in 2008 most of the water from the crater was released in order to prevent flooding of the surrounding area in the event of a sharp rise in the level during the rainy season.
