The main industries in Zanzibar are spices, raffia and tourism. In particular, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and black pepper are produced from the spices. For this reason, these islands are often called spice islands. Zanzibar also boasts some endemic species such as the Zanzibar Red Colobus (a monkey species) and the Zanzibar Leopard, which may be an extinct species.
