Killyleagh Castle is the main attraction of the village of the same name in Northern Ireland. The oldest parts of it date back to 1180, which is why it is considered to be the oldest castle in the country. King James I division the land on which the castle is located, to James Hamilton, who would later become the first Viscount Claneb. He then built a high castle, surrounded by a wall.

Since 1625, the castle has been the ancestral home of the Hamilton family. In 1666, James Hamilton's son Henry rebuilt the estate, added another tower, and erected a long fortified wall in front of the castle. This is how we see Killyleagh today.
