The Outer Banks is a long sandy strip along the Atlantic Ocean that stretches 320 km along the North Carolina coast. The outer shallows start from southeast Virginia and stretch along most of the North Carolina coastline. Sand dunes, like a fence erected by nature along the highway, hide the impatiently grumbling ocean from curious tourists. The almighty sea breeze drives up the multi-colored grains of sand and makes you play catch-up on dazzling white sand. The shining joyful sun envelops the Outer Shallows in radiant light, plunging into the deep blue sky, on which, only occasionally, tiny white lambs float.

The sandy strip is little known among foreign tourists, but is a popular holiday destination for residents of North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey. Since the road to Outer Banks is not close, most travelers spend at least 4-7 days here.
Some come here with their mobile home and live here almost all summer. What else is boring for a wonderful holiday? The sea, the sun, the beach... There is plenty of it here.
Plus, Outer Banks is filled with many interesting places. This is where the first plane flew, piloted by the Wright brothers. (Read more in the article First Flight.) In the south of the Outer Banks is the famous lighthouse located at Cape Hatteras, which attracts thousands of tourists every year.

To the north of Outer Banks lies the tourist town of Kitty Hawk with many great restaurants, amazing gift shops, mini golf courses, and a paragliding school.
The main influx of tourists is during the summer period. Tiny villages come to life in season: cafes and restaurants, souvenir shops, entertainment for the vacationer open.
Students come together during the summer holidays in search of work.

A white beach with dazzling sand covers the entire coastline of the Outer Banks. Popular sports here include surfing, kiteboarding and kayaking. The outer shoals of North Carolina are considered to be one of the best destinations in the world for aspiring kite flying athletes. The depth from the side of the bay is knee-deep, which is very convenient for setting up the equipment and not worrying about being carried away somewhere.
The beaches of the Atlantic Ocean are free and freely accessible. Rest here is wild and you won't be able to rent a sun lounger or umbrella.
