Torres del Paine National Park is a protected wild area, located in the XII Region of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic, Chile. With more than 181,414 hectares, it is one of the largest parks in Patagonia, being one of the most important in Chile. It is the third with the most visits, of which about 75% correspond to foreign tourists, being declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1978.

The three Torres del Paine, located in southern Chile, are huge granite monoliths formed by the forces of glacial ice. They are located in Chilean Patagonia, 400 km north of Punta Arenas, and almost 2,500 km south of the Chilean capital, Santiago.

The Torre Central del Paine (almost 3,400 meters high) is the highest of the three. It was first climbed in 1963 by Chris Bonington and Don Whillans. The Torre del Paine del Norte was first climbed by Guido Monzino and the Torre del Sur by Armando Aste.

In the national park (with an area of 2,400 km²) there are several access routes in addition to many refuges, which provide basic services for tourists.

Within the Park, there are the Amarga lagoon, the Pehoe and Gray lakes, which are provided with first-class inns. Most of the trekking expeditions depart from the Amarga lagoon, in the Gray lake it is possible to observe the ice floes, which have been detached from the Gray glacier.
