Located in Carinthia, in the settlement of the same name, the Burg Wartenstein is a well-preserved fortress. The castle stands on a high hill (765 m), and it appeared here in the XII century. Today, only a small courtyard, a chapel and a large hall remain from the complex, but they are in good condition.

The castle is privately owned. Over the centuries-old history, it has been repeatedly rebuilt and completed. At the end of World War II, as a result of the fighting, the castle was badly damaged, and they began to restore it in 1957. The modern complex of Wartenstein Castle includes the main and watchtower, the Gothic chapel, the bastion and the gate leading to the tower from the east.
