Cathedral Cove is a cove in New Zealand that got its name from the Cathedral Cave located in it. The cave, in turn, is so named because of the resemblance to the Gothic cathedral. Its length is 120 meters and its height exceeds 20 meters. The cave ends with a sharply tapering "roof", reminiscent of similar roofs-arrows of Gothic cathedrals.

The local, Maori name of the bay sounds like Te Wanganui-A-Hey and translates as “Great Bay of Hey”. It is associated with the legend of the priest Hay, who chose this area in order for his tribe to settle in it. There is an islet in the bay that he calls "The Curve of the Septum of My Nose," and this island is really very similar to the nose.
