The red land of Dongchuan District in Yunnan Province (China) is famous among geologists for its peculiar beauty. Due to a long and complex geological process, the land in the region has taken on a very striking reddish color.

Along the seasons, the colors of the different crops separated into plots are added to the garnet tones typical of a soil rich in minerals such as iron. The famous red earth is in Xintian village, about 40 kilometers from Kunming, in Dongchuan district.

When photographers began arriving in this region, they dubbed it "nature's heavenly palette." In fact, this unique and wonderful rural setting is a paradise for many photographers, who are attracted by the incredible color palette and the varied geometric shapes of the terrain.

This part of the world, which covers 1,858 km2, is home to some 300,000 people and several peoples whose main livelihood is agriculture and livestock. Each terrace has been planted with different harvests, and at different heights, giving rise to the spectacular multicolored scenery typical of this place.
