The Indonesian Padar Island is located about 30 km from Labuan Bajo, a fishing town in the westernmost part of Flores Island. Padar is small, but it is the third largest island in Komodo National Park and was once home to huge monitor lizards, which gave the reserve its name.
Padar Island is a fairly large island, about 10 kilometers long, but Komodo monitor lizards do not live here - there is no food supply. No boars, no deer, no buffaloes. The island is very dry and rugged. Only goats are brought here to graze.

In the last couple of years, the island has become very popular on Indonesian travel blogs and social networks.

It is understandable: the beauty here is incredible! There are several trails on the island, one of which leads to the top of the hill. The higher - the more beautiful! And finally, that same fantastic view. Komodo is also clearly visible behind Padar.
From the observation deck to which the majority reaches, you can go even higher - yes, the highest point of this peninsula.

And even further - to the cape. There is an epic cliff, which you can't really take a picture, but it is expensive to stand and look!
Padar Island is included in 2 and 3 day tours from Labuan Bajo. It is definitely worth a visit! And if you live in a village on Komodo, then Padar is very close - an hour and a half by boat.
How to get there
Pulau Padar is uninhabited, so there are no public boats. The cheapest way to get there is to first take a public boat to the village on Komodo, and then look for a boat that will take you to Padar. How to get to Komodo is detailed here.
