The Pitstone Windmill is located at the foot of the central ridge of the Chiltern Hills, 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Aylesbury and 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Leighton Buzzard. It is directly adjacent to Ivinghoe Village and the two villages share common facilities.

A notable building is the Pitstone Windmill, which is owned by the National Trust. Previously, a windmill could rotate to resist the prevailing wind, as evidenced by a wheel protruding from one side of the structure. Although he can no longer do this, the wheel remains and its pivot point is clearly visible.
