Jeju Island is chosen by many couples for their honeymoon. And the truth is that there are plenty of reasons to choose this natural paradise. Whether you are on your honeymoon or not, it will surely captivate you from the first moment. Its natural charm is palpable in each of its corners. Perhaps that is why, before being one of the natural wonders, it was already considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Biosphere Reserve and Global Geopark. Thanks to these recognitions, more and more tourists come from all over the world. Everyone wants to see with their own eyes the beauty of its landscapes sculpted by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.

Jeju Island is the largest and southernmost island in Korea. It stretches 73 km from east to west and 31 km from north to south. For a long time it was alien to the country due to its geographic isolation, which is visible in its unspoiled nature. Jeju Island has protected itself from excessive Korean industrialization, preserving its purest state.

Did you know? The route between Seoul and Jeju Island is the busiest air route in the world. This 450-kilometer stretch from Seoul International Airport to Jeju city, the island's capital, departs every 15 minutes, according to data from Google Flights. In addition, the prestigious newspaper The Telegraph said that, in 2015, 11 million people made this trip. With the passage of time, the figure has only increased, with an ever greater demand.

Jeju Island Hiking: Hallasan Volcano and Seongsan Ilchulbong

Jeju Island is a hiker's paradise, with routes that run between greens and grays, such as the trail that leads to the Hallasan volcano, at 1950 meters above sea level. But, if you are looking for the most beautiful views of sunrise, then you must make the ascent to the Peak of the Rising Sun, 180 meters high.

Seongsan Ilchulbong

It is the most iconic image of Jeju, declared a National Monument by UNESCO. Known as the Peak of the Rising Sun, Mount Seongsan erupted from the sea after a volcanic eruption 100,000 years ago. The crater has a diameter of 600 meters and 90 meters high and is completely covered by a green blanket of grass. The tradition is to reach the top before the sun rises and watch the sunrise from its immense crater.

Near the beginning of the trail you will find a parking lot and the lockers through which you can access a path that leads to the top of the crater. Of course, you also have the option to walk up for free. The walk lasts half an hour in which the 180 meters of unevenness that lead to the viewpoint of the crater are circumvented.
