The Boulevard of Ice Fields, kilometer after kilometer, gives more and more wonderful views.
And, if glaciers and lakes prevail in Banff National Park, then Jasper has more beautiful waterfalls. Some of the most famous are the Sunwapta Falls.
At about four in the afternoon we pulled out of the road at the sign to Sunwapta Falls.

The Sunwapta River turns sharply here - this is what created the waterfalls. For millennia, the river has carved a gorge in soft limestone.

Sunwapta is a Stoney word that means "stormy water". You can cross the bridge to the other side to admire the waterfall from all sides.
Or look into the gorge from above. Most of the tourists are content with the upper Sunwapta waterfall and leave on.

We will go another mile and a half down the river to see the lower Sunwapta waterfall.
The lower waterfall is in no way inferior to the upper one, and the walk through the forest was very pleasant. The total height of the waterfall is 18.5 meters.
