To speak of Vietnam is to speak of breathtaking views, usually its overwhelming nature. What I show you today can also be described as impressive, although it is something made by man. It is about the Dragon Bridge, and yes, as its name suggests it has the shape... of a dragon.
Dragon Bridge Da Nang |
It is located in the city of Da Nang and crosses the Han River, connecting the city center with the nearby beaches and the airport. As if that were not enough with its spectacular shape, every weekend, at nine o'clock at night, the dragon spits fire through its nostrils and, as you can imagine, it has become an attraction for both tourists and locals. I am not surprised, because it is quite surprising, as you can see below.
This mass is 666 (ahem) meters long and almost 40 meters wide, with six lanes for pedestrians, bicycles and motor vehicles. At night it is illuminated with more than two thousand LEDs and of course the show is impressive. It was built by the American companies Ammann & Whitney and Louis Berger, and, unsurprisingly, it is not without controversy.
Dragon Bridge Da Nang |
The very high cost of the bridge (almost 88 million dollars) has put a part of the population on the warpath, while another part is delighted with the tourism that this particular bridge is attracting.
It is impossible to get to Da Nang and not freak out with the Dragon Bridge that crosses the river, with 666 meters long, being the longest in Vietnam.
