Saltwater marshes,
maritime forests and 18mi of secluded beaches make up the complex ecosystem of
Cumberland Island National Seashore. The largest and least developed of
Georgia's Golden Isles, it faces the town of St. Marys,
Georgia, across the
Cumberland Strait.

The 1898 Plum Orchard (guided tours only) and the 1884 Dungeness of which only the ruins remain were occupied by members of the wealthy Carnegie family of Pittsburgh.
