Ha Long is a natural heritage site of world importance
Ha Long Bay, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1994, is part of the Gulf of Thin and covers an area of 1,500 square kilometers. Scattered throughout the bay are more than 3,000 islands covered in lush greenery and jagged dolomite and limestone cliffs, cut by winding tunnels and underwater caves. The islands are over 250 million years old. Archaeologists are convinced that it is Ha Long that is one of the first cradles of humanity in this region.
Despite the large number, most of the cliffs have their own names - their contours are so varied and interesting that they make the imagination draw distinct images of old fishermen, pirate ships, mythical and real animals, and beautiful flowers. However, the outlines change depending on the point of observation and the time of day - magical mists and solar mirages add mystery and piquancy to all the scenes seen.
