The center of the city is the old Jardin Square. Here are the very beautiful churches of the Templo de San Rafael and the Parrochia de San Miguel Arcangel of the 17th-18th centuries, a wonderful example of the Baroque style with a neo-Gothic tower added at the end of the 19th century. According to rumors, the architect created a project based on postcards depicting European cathedrals. Nearby is the Casa de Allende - an exemplary mansion in the style of the buildings of the Spanish nobility of the 18th century.

The city is distinguished by wonderful architecture; the government of the country declared it a National Historical Monument back in 1930, thanks to which the buildings have been perfectly preserved. Even today, you will not see advertisements, neon signs and modern buildings in the historic center. Walking along the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old Town, declared a pedestrian zone, is a wonderful way to pass the time.
The old town of San Miguel de Allende was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.

With landscapes of tiled roofs and church domes, at first glance, it seems that San Miguel de Allende is not much different from any other Mexican colonial town. Its special character lies in its reputation as a popular residence for artists, writers, poets, sculptors and other representatives of the creative profession. The small town is known for its colonial architecture, cobblestone streets and a special bohemian atmosphere.
The cultural reputation of San Miguel de Allende has prompted many famous people in Mexico and other countries to move here permanently. Despite the absence of a casino, airport and more than 600 km from the nearest beach, this small town is ranked first in travel magazines as one of the preferred places to live and relax. Even Hollywood drew attention to San Miguel, filming "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" and "Pancho Villa" here. And after the first minutes of exploring this glorious city, it becomes clear why.
