Zelenci Nature Reserve - On the edge of the town of Podkoren is the Zelenci Nature Reserve, one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia. The Reserve is located in the northernmost area of the Triglav National Park and is a paradise for all kinds of fauna and flora, including those inhabited by hundreds of birds of different species. Some of these animal and plant species are on the way to extinction, which is why the preservation work carried out in the Nature Reserve is very important.

But if there is something that makes visitors come to visit the reserve, it is its swamps and lakes. The Emerald Green Lake, as its name suggests, is an authentic jewel for our senses, it is born next to the Drni swamp that is about 1200 meters long and 150 wide, there the waters due to the currents make the color turquoise. so wonderful.
From the nearby Kranjska Gora you can get to the entrance of the Zelenci Lakes, there we will see a parking lot where we can leave the vehicle, there is also a small food stand. We will only have to walk about 200 meters from this point until we see the Lake and the swamp. Access is good and can be done with children, even with baby seats.

Travelers who come here can contemplate this natural spectacle from the wooden walkways that border the Lake. Once there we will be able to see, due to the transparency of the water, how the water itself emerges from the depths. We identify it by the bubbles that form on the surface.
This happens because the lake is fed by the Sava River, but its flow is underground in some areas and they re-emerge here.
The Lake is kept at a constant temperature throughout the year, about 5 degrees, so in the middle of winter it never freezes.
All this information can be seen in some explanatory panels that we will find on the stairs through which we will access.
