It is no secret that the Ermita de Santa Justa is, without a doubt, one of the most magical places that we can find in the north of Spain. Until we reach it, we can enjoy a truly spectacular path where, among other issues, we will find the one known as Torre de San Telmo.
To begin to discover this place we must know that this beautiful hermitage of Santa Justa is located in Ubiarco (Cantabria), right on the beach that bears the name of this building. Administratively it belongs to Santillana del Mar, located a few kilometers away.

Once you get to this point, that of Santa Justa beach, you will be completely impregnated with that essence that is difficult to explain. It is more than evident that we are facing a corner of Cantabria that not only leaves no one indifferent but that you will always want to return.
Getting to the hermitage is quite easy since it is perfectly signposted. What is most striking about this building is that it is built on a cliff. For this reason, it is recommended not to approach it if there are a lot of waves. It is said that it was inhabited between the 8th and 10th centuries by an anchorite who probably emigrated from Seville, where after the Muslim invasion the remains of both Santa Justa and Santa Rufina were found.

We must bear in mind that this hermitage came to have such relevance in the history and culture of Cantabria that in 1578 it was the protagonist of various ordinances. One of the most surprising was related to the fact that they were fined up to 100 maravedÃes to people who, on July 19, did not attend the Santa Justa pilgrimage.
Very close to this hermitage, we can enjoy what is known as Mota Justa, a fortification that was directly part of a spectacular defensive complex on this part of the coast. As if that were not enough, you can visit some nearby municipalities such as Santillana del Mar or Suances. We are sure that your visit to these places will leave you with a good taste in your mouth.
