Torbole (or, to be precise, Nago-Torbole) is a tiny resort nestled on the shores of one of the most picturesque Italian lakes, Garda. Despite its size and population, barely 2,500, the city becomes an extremely popular destination in summer. Especially among fans of windsurfing and kiting. Good winds and correct waves are a simple explanation. But Torbole is famous not for the water element alone. There is also a wonderful climate, unchanged almost all year round, fantastic alpine landscapes, as well as amazing air quality, thanks to which even those suffering from pulmonary diseases breathe easily.

Areas

The double name of the resort is no coincidence. Torbole is a charming fishing village that today has become an elegant lakeside resort with all the benefits of civilization: expensive hotels, cozy guesthouses, fish restaurants and breathtaking views of Garda. Nago, located 200 m higher on a hill above Torbole, is an original settlement in these places, which has retained its color, old houses and the parish church of St. Vigil (the date of foundation is considered to be the end of the 16th century).

Beaches and windsurfing

Torbole beaches are small-pebbled, very clean, usually uncrowded and well equipped. Around - parking for boats (without motors) and yachts, and mountains, from one view of which the heart begins to beat faster.

Due to the fact that the right winds are constantly blowing at the resort and the optimal temperature regime is maintained, kitesurfing, yachting and even diving are exceptionally developed in Torbole. The local yacht club is considered one of the most respectable and respected in all of Europe. Of course, here you can find an instructor, rent equipment or just rent a small boat and swim in the clear waters of Garda.

Entertainment and attractions Torbole

The main attraction of the resort is the alpine Lake Garda. It is so beautiful that sometimes it is simply impossible to force yourself to tear yourself away from admiring the water that is regularly rolling onto the shore against the backdrop of brutal mountains. However, it is worth doing this, because at the top of the hill, right above the town, there are perhaps the most impressive ruins on the lake. This is Castel Penede, a powerful castle built in the 13th century and ingloriously destroyed in the 18th century (Of course, the views of the lake from here are even more spectacular.)

In addition to the fortress, Torbole attracts the attention of travelers with two ancient temples - San Vigilio and San Andrea (the foundations of both date back to the 12th century). Preserved in the city and the Austro-Hungarian forts, where today the City Museum is located with a mass of unique artifacts of the past - weapons and coins, pottery and jewelry. Finally, another monument of antiquity is the Casa del Dazio, built in the Venetian style, where the excise office was previously located.

The favorite square among tourists is Vittorio Veneto. Here is the famous Casa Alberti fountain house with an imposing bronze plaque commemorating Goethe. Its essence is simple - the genius writer was the first to visit Torbole on his journey through the Garda.

How to get there

Torbole is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Garda. The easiest way to get here is by car, since most of the local vacationers carry either sailboats or kites with them. Fortunately, the city is located in a fairly busy place, and there should be no problems with travel by car. Take the A22 motorway between Verona and Trento and exit at the Mori area onto the SS240 state road.
