Polihale State Park and Beach are located on the western tip of the island, where civilization ends and the uninhabited slopes of Napali begin. The road leading to the Polihale Beach turns into a dirt road at some point. Somehow I didn’t like this hole right away, so I painted a picture of how we first get stuck, and then we pull the car out of it. When at the box office we were offered a more advanced car - the SUV Suzuki Samurai - we gladly agreed. Samurai are not afraid of any obstacles. We rode with a breeze along the deserted beach of Polihale, leaving a giant veil of sand behind.

Why do you think one of the largest beaches in Hawaii - about 12 miles or 19 kilometers long - is so deserted? Just look at how much sand that just goes beyond the horizon, beautiful surf and just a couple of tourists.

A dirt road with insidious traps has nothing to do with it. The main reason is that you cannot swim on the Polihale Beach, it is not protected by a coral reef. We tried to go into the water, it was not deep at all, a little deeper than the middle of the calf, the current was so strong that it knocked me off my feet and carried me along the shore at breakneck speed. Fortunately, Alex was nearby and managed to catch me before I was blown away to the military base "Barking Sands" ( Barking Sands ), where the sand barks like dogs and some kind of rocket can fall on my head. A little more and the bather in the photo above will also be knocked down. We found a large anchor, brought by the waves almost to the shore and dipped, clinging tightly to it with both hands.
