Namibia is about landscapes. Sossusvlei is the most visited part of the desert by tourists, part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park and probably the most popular tourist destination in Namibia. There is almost no vegetation here. The name of this place comes from two words: sossus, which means "water collection place", and vlei - a shallow lake filled with water during the rainy season. After seasonal rains, the water in these small lakes remains for several months.

The road from Windhoek takes about 4 hours. Before entering the park there are quite a few lodges and campsites, such as Sossusvlei Lodge. The gates to the park open at 06:00 in the morning, so if you plan to meet the sunrise, for example, at the top of Dune 45, then you need to spend the night inside the park. There is also a Sesriem Campsite and a couple of rather expensive lodges, one of them is Sossus Dune Lodge.

To get to the valley with dry trees, you need to drive about 65 km deep into the park on a good asphalt road and then drive about 3-4 km along the sand, do not stop in this section so that the car does not get stuck in the sand. Already from the last parking lot go on foot for 15-20 minutes to the left in the direction of travel.
