Da Nang is listed as the fourth most populous city in Vietnam. It is a very important port for the country's economy, home to the largest steel arch built in the region and a spectacular dragon's head. The Dragon Bridge was inspired by the figure of the dragon so widely used in architecture during the Lý dynasty. In addition, the mythological figure is part of Vietnamese folklore, where dragons are said to fly to the sea to bring good fortune.

Spectacular Work
Louis Berger Group, an American architecture firm, was in charge of the project which cost 1.7 billion Vietnamese dong (about US$72.5 million). In April 2009, work began on the construction of the bridge, which is 666 meters long and has an estimated weight of 8,164 tons. Although the inauguration of the work was scheduled for early 2012, the date was postponed several months. Finally, the Vice Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, personally attended the inauguration.

The bridge is already a wonder by day, but at night it seems that a royal dragon visits Da Nang residents to bring good fortune.
