Balmoral Castle is a palace located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and one of the favorite places of Queen Elizabeth II. In addition, it is her summer residence and her place of refuge and vacation. But keep in mind that the official royal residence when the British Royal Family is in Scotland is Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.

King Robert II of Scotland (1316-1390) owned a hunting lodge nearby and historical records also indicate that in 1390 William Drummond built a residence in the Balmoral area.
The castle became a royal residence in 1848, when it was rented to Queen Victoria I, the current monarch's great-great-grandmother. The royals liked the residence so much that they decided to buy it for 30,000 pounds. The Prince Consort immediately began work to expand the 15th-century castle to fit the queen's needs.
It was a refuge at the beginning of World War II and before doing so in Sandringham, the Royal Family stayed here, after the death of Diana of Wales, both the queen and her grandchildren took refuge here.

Curiosities of Balmoral Castle
One of the curiosities of Balmoral Castle (which has 260 square kilometers) is that the predilection of Queen Elizabeth II for this residence comes from 'inheritance' because it is a love that she transmitted to her mother. One of the details that most catches our attention is that Queen Elizabeth II was a mechanic for the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the war and they say that for a long time she took care of the maintenance of the Land Rovers used in Balmoral.
