Being able to have so much shade makes this beach perfect to spend the whole day, no matter how hot it is. We can enjoy the beach all morning, and then stop to eat quietly in the shade, and then take a nap without the sun being a bother.
Kikaua Beach is actually in a sheltered bay, making it perfect for swimming. This beach can be accessed from another beach, which is called Kukio Beach.

Kikaua Beach is located about 12 kilometers from Kailua-Kona. The curiosity that must be taken into account when we visit this beach is that the beach is surrounded by a fence, and we have to enter through a private area with guards. We simply have to tell them that we are going to the public beach and they will let us through.
If we come by car, it is a good idea to arrive early as there are few parking spaces, and we will have to leave the car further away. From the car park there is a paved path that is about five minutes to the beach. There are various services available, such as showers, restrooms, and drinking fountains. It is accessible for pushchairs and disabled people with wheelchairs.

As mentioned, Kikaua beach is ideal for various activities, but not only for swimming. Many people come to this magnificent beach to free dive simply with a diving suit and fins. This gives the opportunity to see the beautiful seabed with the volcanic formations that have formed over the years.
There is also a dedicated green area with benches and tables where visitors can rest. From the beach, you can drive to the town of Kikaua, where we have several restaurants and shops. As you can see, Kikaua beach offers almost everything, but with a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
