Lydgate Beach in Hawaii is one of the most popular beaches on the island, and is also a park with a double pool on the north side of the beach, which is protected from the ocean by a man-made rock barrier. This barrier was created in the mid-1960s using large rocks.

The pool is divided into an internal and external section by two purpose-built rock walls. The indoor pool is shallow and perfect for the little ones. The outer part is deeper and very good for swimming and diving. There is a watchtower that monitors both pools for the safety of visitors. While activity in both pools is normally safe, any activity outside of the protected area is less so.
The ocean is unpredictable and that is why you have to be careful if you leave these parts of the beach.

Lydgate Beach also has a grass field where visitors can play tag or whatever. There are several recreation areas for children to have a great time, and also routes that can be traveled by bicycle along the entire coast. To the north of the pools are several historic settlements including a very old Hawaiian temple.
There is also a sanctuary that served as a refuge for Hawaiians who broke some rule in their beliefs. The beach gets its name from the last name of a former pastor of the Koloa church. This beach has also been used to film a few movies.
Aside from the activities mentioned above, Lydgate Beach offers excellent local picnicking, camping, fishing, surfing and much more. People who are fond of windsurfing have several areas available to practice this sport, which have excellent conditions to do so.

As has been said, in general the protected areas are perfect for spending a day at the beach without fear of currents, jellyfish or any inconvenience that may occur in the open sea. Changing rooms, toilets, showers and ample parking are also included if we go by car.
There is also an attraction that the youngest members of the family will love, and it is a large wooden construction. In the 1990s, thousands of volunteers decided to make a recreation park in the northern part of the park. This huge wooden castle has slides, mirror mazes, suspension bridges and other similar entertainment.
In the southern part of the park, there is a play bridge which is another construction made by volunteers, consisting of a wooden maze with spiral slides. It is completed by ramps and stairs to move around the environment.
