The waterfalls are located in the Dragon Mountains in eastern South Africa. They are fed by the Tugela River, which is subject to torrential flow and is dry at certain times of the year. It starts just five kilometers upstream, in the Mont-aux-Sources massif. Waterfalls plunge from the spectacular walls of the amphitheater.
According to some surveys, the falls would be the highest in the world, going to exceed the Angel Falls (979 meters). For example, according to a measurement made in 2016 by Czech topographers, the Tugela Falls would have a height of 983 meters, that is, 4 more than the Venezuelan waterfall.
