Principe Island is located in the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It is part of the state of São Tomé and Príncipe, being the second largest after São Tomé. The area of the island of Principe is 136 km². Together with the adjacent islands - Bombo, Carosu, Tignosa Grande, Tignosa Pequena - it makes up the province of Principe, as well as the district of Pagui. A few tourists enjoy the virgin nature, the silence, interrupted only by the singing of birds and the sound of the waves, and the colorful underwater world. Snorkeling near the coast, climbing ancient dormant volcanoes and observing the life of birds that are not found anywhere else in the world - perhaps the best pastime on the island of Principe.
