In the middle of an impressive garden is the Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen (Rosenborg Slot), an old palace built in the 17th century and with that fairytale aspect that many buildings in the Danish capital have.

The history of Rosenborg Castle
Rosenborg Castle was built as the summer residence of King Christian IV, although a few years later, during the reign of his grandson Frederik, it was no longer used. It would only be inhabited again in a couple of emergency situations, when the royal family was forced to move there: with the burning of Christiansborg Palace at the end of the 18th century and with the attack by the British navy on Copenhagen at the beginning of the 19th century.
