Galesburg, Illinois has a retail center called Sandburg Mall, also known as Carl Sandburg Mall. From 1975 until 2018, the mall functioned as an enclosed retail area with key anchor stores and a variety of interior shops. Only three companies remained as of 2019 after the inside mall was shuttered on September 28, 2018, including an auto repair shop, a building supplies outlet, and a moving van rental service. The mall's anchor retailers were Kmart, JCPenney, Sears, and Bergner's.

Beginning in 1971, Skokie, Illinois-based Kenroy, Inc. conceived and built Carl Sandburg Mall. On 97 acres near the intersection of Henderson Street and U.S. Route 34 in northwest Galesburg, the $15 million complex was constructed starting in February 1974 and continuing into 1975.
