The Route 35 and Route 66 crossroads are home to the 856,000-square-foot (79,500 m2) mall, which was first built as an indoor mall in 1977. It was up against the more upmarket Monmouth Mall, which was eight kilometers (five miles)) farther north on Route 35 in Eatontown.

A number of lesser shops, Stern's and Steinbach, two of its anchors, as well as one of its four anchors that never opened, were all victims of the then-declining indoor mall. Later, the mall was converted into a shopping complex that now has stores like Target, Costco, Burlington, Home Sense, Siera Trading, Marshalls, Home Goods, Petsmart, Starbucks, and more.
