In the Chicago metropolitan area, there is an expensive retail center called Westfield Old Orchard, originally known as Old Orchard Shopping Center. It is situated in Illinois' Skokie. Macy's and Nordstrom are examples of anchor stores.

With Marshall Field & Company, Saks Fifth Avenue, and The Fair Department Store, Westfield Old Orchard debuted in October 1956. In 1964, Fair became Montgomery Ward. The North and West Garages, two parking garages, were constructed in 1978. In 1978, Saks Fifth Avenue sold its old store to Lord & Taylor and relocated to a bigger space.
