Regional retail center Post Oak Mall is owned by CBL & Associates Properties and is located in College Station, Texas. The mall was built starting in the summer of 1979, and it opened on February 17, 1982. At first, it had 80 stores, including four anchors. Before the mall even opened, a second phase that added extra floor space and increased the number of businesses to 125 with 6 anchor stores was finished in 1985. In 2015, it also included two restaurants and a small food court. JCPenney, Conn's, and two Dillard's locations serve as anchor stores. Two anchor stores that were once Gordmans and Macy's are now empty.

Post Oak, the first mall to open in College Station, is the biggest shopping center in the Brazos Valley region. It quickly rose to the position of being the city's top employer and nearly quadrupled sales tax receipts. The mall increased traffic and increased the need for local services, but it also brought in $1 million in sales taxes annually, $120,000 in property taxes, and $500,000 in taxes for the city's school system. It is credited for providing College Station, which had previously been without a significant retail community, with the first significant push for expanding economic and commercial growth.
The mall's approximately eleven million yearly visitors provide over 75% of the local store sales. It continues to be the second-largest employer and the city's top taxpayer. Additionally, it is the largest employer of students from the adjacent Texas A&M University.
