A retail center called Georgia Square Mall is situated in the Georgian city of Athens. Few students from the nearby University of Georgia make up its customers; instead, it primarily serves local Athens citizens.

This two-level mall, which was first renowned for its vintage architectural elements like the foil-copper effect utilized on the mall entrance to Belk, was first constructed in 1981. When it was established, this mall was also one of the biggest in a more rural area of the nation. The mall also debuted with Davison's, Sears, and JCPenney as additional anchors. When the mall opened, the anchor stores that had previously been in Downtown Athens moved there.
