The linear strip shopping mall debuted in 1956 under the name Kenwood Plaza. It was first solely supported by Cincinnati-based McAlpin's. By 1959, a H & S Pogue was operating. North of downtown Cincinnati, on a 34-acre (140,000 m2) parcel, The PLAZA was located. The location is situated in a region that is frequently referred to as Kenwood, Ohio but is actually part of Sycamore Township in Hamilton County, Ohio.
