In Hoover, Alabama, part of the Greater Birmingham metropolitan area, there is a sizable, super-regional retail mall and mixed-use complex called Riverchase Galleria, also referred to as The Galleria. On a list of the biggest malls in the US, it comes in at number 43. It is Alabama's largest enclosed retail mall.

The Riverchase Galleria complex, which is situated at the junction of Interstate 459 and U.S. Highway 31 (Montgomery Highway), houses the only Costco in the area as well as the 15-story, 1,700,000-square-foot (160,000 m2) Hyatt Regency and the 17-story, 285,000-square-foot (26,500 m2) Galleria Tower office building. The Walter Energy, Inc. corporate offices are located in the skyscraper. JCPenney, Von Maur, Macy's, Belk, and Dave & Buster's are the mall's anchor retailers.
