🛠️ History & Construction
Built by Trinity House, the official authority for lighthouses in England, this beacon was designed to guide ships safely through the Bristol Channel, an area once considered dangerously under-lit between Land’s End and Lundy Island. 🚢💡
Originally, the lighthouse had two lights—a high and a low—to help mariners navigate safely. 🧭 However, in 1882, the low light was discontinued, and the high light became the primary aid to navigation. 🗺️
